Deer scared of flash
« on: June 05, 2013, 12:44:43 AM »
I have two cameras set up at the same location, and in the video of this buck it's obviously scared of the flash from the other camera. Well, either that or it's the red light from the camera that was video mode. I hadn't even thought of that until now. I was blaming the white flash camera, but now I'm not sure. Either way, this buck did not like having his picture taken.

First, here are the three photos I got with my Moultrie D55 (and obviously the date and time is incorrect, it should have been June 3 at 5:57 AM, as the video shows)

And here is the video from a Wildgame Innovations camera:

Oh and while I'm at it, here's an elk, which is the whole reason for having these cameras in this locations. The deer was just an unexpected bonus.

Yes, but the elk at this spot don't care one bit about the cameras.

sounds about right.  i had elk hanging out in front of one of my cameras i pulled last month, day after day, bedding in front of it, and the cam was at chest height.  they didnt care at all.

I bet it is the red light that bothered the deer. I have not had any scared of white flash, but many have not liked the red light.

Kinda looks like the deer is focusing on the camera videoing and not so much the one taking the picture.  :twocents:

Yeah I think you guys are right, it was most likely the Wildgame cam in video mode that spooked the deer. I took it down it won't be an issue anymore.

I wonder if its making a noise while its videoing or if its just the red light  :dunno: weird.

I think some are scared by the white flash and others are not. I had a big 5 point jump at the flash and was gone by the second pic a second or two later. He looked like he was loading up and jumping out of the first pic from the flash. Never had another pic of him.
