Prevention is a key, but its not the whole answer.

Everyone has cancer. Not everyone's body can recognize it, thus does not fight it.
One of my nurses explained it to me this way:
Its like having an ant hill outside your house. The ants dont bother you, and you might kill a couple in your house onc in a while. But they build a nest somewhere you dont know about. They grow unknowingly. Then, all of a sudden, theres ants causing problems. If caught early enough, and exterminator can kill the nest quickly. But not all the ants will die. They may move to another spot, and grow their, unbeknownst to you. Only constant vigilance will keep them from spreading.

Killing an ants nest and killing off cancer has the same principles.
You can blow up a nest, killing thousands of ants, but alot suvive and spread to various places. You can spray them, but that kills mostly the ones on the surface, and maybe some will.die on the nest, but they will build.a.tolerance to the spray. You can dig out and remove the nest, but still, some may survive and return. You can hit them with a long term treatment, but only controls a few and takes time.
So, what doctors do is a stratgy of all combined methods.
Dig it out, blow it up (scatter), spray, and hit them with a long term treatment. Radiation and surgery and chemo does all this. Its invasive, painful, and creates long term problems.
But the ants go away mostly and are controlled.

You can also do all you can to prevent the ants from getting into the house in the first place. Dont give them reason to.

keep up the good fight especially for your kids...

I have been doing some reading and since this is about cancer i thought i'd bring it up. Basically one of the theories about how cancer forms is by our bodies not being alkaline enough. Our diet today consists of things that are more acidic on a daily basis. Things like red meat, coke, alcohol, and other food choices cause our body to become more acidic. 7.4 PH is about normal (blood ph) and lower PH levels help.

One of the key health problems that most people have is that are dehydrated, and don't drink enough fluid to flush their system.
It seems that there are pushing slightly alkaline water to solve this problem, however it would also seem that re-hydrating with good old fashioned water and eating foods that are not massively acidic.

What are your thoughts on this issue? Anyone...

I've also read this.  I've tested rain water, tap water and bottled spring water and found them to be slightly to very alkaline. Filtered water around neutral and filtered bottle water ( drinking water) to be acid.
I'm not sure.

 Iceman,
Best of luck in this struggle. You've got a lot of support through your family and friends and you're going into this with one of the best weapons; an attitude that this is not going to beat you! Do your best and just take it one step at a time.
Our Relay for Life is in Shelton next weekend and I'll light a candle for you. Our committee is made up of mostly survivors who've beat this beast just as you will. If you need anything at all just send a post or a pm and we will be there! See you out in the woods enjoying life soon. Prayers to you and the family.

Thanks everyone.

I am sitting here enjoying my last real meal for quite a while, Elk steak, mushrooms, tater and corn on cob. No eats after midnight tonight and check in at the hospital at 9am. Won't have solid food for a long time...

See you all later.

Oh my gosh, Iceman. I just found your post. I'll write more later, but I wanted you to know I'm praying for you and will again in the AM.

You and your family are such great people and I could tell that from the short time we spent together at the 2nd amendment rally.

God bless you and update us when you can.

"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
