Building an AR for a stripped lower, what will it take
« on: June 17, 2013, 07:52:53 PM »
I'm intrested in building a AR  from a stripped lower and was wondering what it would take. Any special tools or complications I should know of?  I plan on it being a 6 month project and doing it slowly. Am I getting into something over my head?

No, it is really easy.  I built earlier this year and it was not a big deal.  I asked a lot of questions and had a quite a bit of help from members on here.  Do a little research and have fun.  I love my build and it shoots amazingly well.

I just put together my first lower. A castle nut wrench would be good to have and they are pretty cheap, other than that my tool kit is pretty basic. I used the article and video guides from ar15.com and it was a snap.

This guide is all you need. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/226782_.html

Proper tools do make life much easier though.

Brian,
I can get you going on the lower with correct tools.
Literally a 45 minute job.
The upper is dependent on what you want exactly.
