Pinks are in..

I need to get some to till into my garden.  They are awesome fertilizer!

That's my plan as well. They are an absolute pain in the rear when fishing neah bay and a read an article two years ago saying to keep everyone you legally can because of how many there are anymore. I see no sense in even smoking them when there are chinook to be had.

I don't fish for pinks because I won't eat them.  I have friends who smoke them but with all the coho and steelhead that I catch, there is really no reason to go though the process for what I feel are third rate fish.  I do love the carcasses that I get from friends for my garden.  Pinks are a hoot to catch, especially in the salt but I have no desire to keep them.

Gross.  Smoking a third-rate fish produces third-rate smoked fish.   

That said, I'm glad people enjoy them.  This summer should be a blast with plenty of pinks to go around for those interested!

OK, you guys have me talked into it.  I don't care if they're mushy, I'll smoke them or catch and release.  PathfinderJR and I are going to make a trip.  What is a good river to hit them with a flyrod?

im only keeping hens. I like pinks because I can stock pile eggs like a mother hummer! then its in the smoker and given away to people that eat em. oh and the occasional fried pink and chips!

Lol you guys are crazy, pinks are delicious. People who dont or wont eat them are straight prudes. A fish is a fish, Sure theres better fish, There always will be some thing better to someone else. But Its a salmon. Im happy with any salmon brought to shore.

More power to you!  I suppose you could call me a fish snob, but I can't see a reason to eat pinks when I could eat fish that tastes far better.  It's the same reason I don't BBQ up a freezer burned round steak when I have ribeyes and new yorks ready to go.

they arent my fave to eat, but I will eat some. once you eat sockeye it makes you a prude! haha. I save pinks for giving away or for cooking for visitors that dont normally eat fish so that way they stay away from my sockeye stash!

True, Like I said theres always something better out there. But Being from a low income family. Ill eat what I can get, and I always enjoy food in my mouth. So many people don't even get that. Id eat the pinks and save the good stuff for a special occasion like friday nights with the family or a get together with friends.

Yeah Ive never touched a sockeye. Caught/Eatin plenty of every other salmon though.

There are plenty of fisheries you could fish and catch a lot of tasty fish.  A couple 20 or 30 pound kings make a lot of meals.  Same is true for limits of coho.  But, I certainly see your point and would eat whatever salmon I could catch if that was all I had.

We have a new Pink Panic Minnow that we are going to try out on the Pinks this year....should work well with a small jig head and light spinning tackle. We shall see......Here is a photo of them. May need to get to em when they are in the salt first.

Looks like something that might work good out at Dash Point Pier when battlefishing begins. Only problem I could see is the lack of weight. Buzzbombs have so much weight to them that they really fly. I think those jigs would work great though otherwise.
