Had a very vivid dream last night about a bull working through the timber, one shot, dead elk! Flash forwarded right to quartering and packing. Woke up this morning as I was hanging the last bag of meat in camp in my dream. What a great dream! WIth fall in the air, I'm getting really excited. Have my main hunting areas narrowed down finally, and have been working out to be ready to pack that bugger out of whatever hell hole I'm sure I'll shoot him in. October 21 can't get here fast enough!

Some nice animals in the area.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Was over there last week scouting, not much activity but TONS of sign. Archery had just closed and we had a full moon so I think they were pretty holed up. I had more walk through my camp at night barking at me than I saw in the woods all day.

Heading back over this week to check out some other areas. Just saw the forecast for 1-2' of snow tonight-monday above 4000'! Keep it coming! Even if it doesn't stick around, it'll get some animals moving for sure.

Last time I had a bull tag was 8 years ago and it was 80+ degrees most of the season with all animals holed up in the deep dark nasty. Can't wait for Oct 21 to get here.

Bring on the snow!  Had some cows and a spike on trail cam last week and heard a bull bugle not far from me.  Got a MF branched bull tag to fill.  Getting pretty amped up about this hunt.  Oct. 21st will not be here soon enough!

I need a muzzie guy to post an elk for me to look at. I'm sitting here at an open house in Lynnwood bored to tears wishing I was running around in the hills looking for animals. Need someone to buy this house today and then I don't have to be here anymore. Here is what I'm thinking about to try and keep my mind off hunting. Some are epic failures.

14 more days until camp and I've already got the gear piled and ready in the garage. FAIL.

Shot last night... again... just because. Have to stop, its to expensive and as gratifying as it is, there are no suprises out to 400 anymore. You can only shoot so many paint cans full of water! FAIL.

Took the nephew out to get him used to my rifle that he'll be using. Kid is 12 years old and shoots better than I did when I was 20. 4 leaf clovered 1" high at 100 yards with my 7mm-08. Then I made him walk 5 miles of logging roads with me because I had to get out in the woods. Good time, but FAIL.

Wife had friends over last night. Kept me awake until 2:00 this morning. Frustrating. Thought about hunting all night. FAIL

Still have a freezer of pinks and silvers I need to smoke, any good brines I should try? Bribes to get guys to help pack my elk out. FAIL

Really need to paint the joints that I caulked on the house the other day, while its warm out again. Damn open house.

Thinking about putting concrete countertops in my house this winter, anyone have experience with that?

Dog is mad, I won't be here for the duck opener. FAIL

Need to rotate my tires and change my oil.

Camo rain gear is toast, need new stuff. Need to sell this house so I can afford to go buy it. Don't want to be wet and cold hunting. FAIL

i give up...
