Did you notice that for the first time there are 5 deer permits for the Watershed?
They will be in there stirring things up. They will be in there the first week of October.

They had that deer hunt last year too.

This is the 3rd year and they have killed one deer out of ten tags the first 2years

I presume the impact was minimal. All permits were filled. What percent of the hunters had guides?
My hunting buddy shot a nice bull there several years ago. He said he saw some hunters utilizing guides.

Only the last few years you have been able to take anyone in with you and im not sure but i don't think your can use a guide on federal controlled lands. Anyome know the correct amwser to that?
Only 20 of 45 filled elk tags last year.

I was looking at the land ownership. Some of 157 is on private land, some on state land and some on city land.
Just wondering if anyone hunts those fringe areas. Can you use an atv on city land?

I don't think there is any where to drive an atv in the shed. My feet had a hard enough time.

There's no place that you can use a atv in the shed.  One thing about it, it would be hard to write you a ticket since you tires wouldn't touch the ground until you hit mill creek...

There is some private land within the watershed boundary. I believe that any ATV inside the boundary, even if private land, is prohibited. Although it doesn't really matter; an ATV will do you no good in unit 157.

Lots of ATV activity on the private land fringes outside of the shed, especially on the west side. But most of that is by the landowners. Very very very extremely hard to even get shed access on foot across those private lands any more. Too many land abuses.

Also, be forewarned that even if you get on the intake trail from the west side, you likely will end up on private property even though you never left the trail; and theoretically could be prosecuted for trespassing if you have not secured permission to use the intake trail that crosses through the private property. Do your homework, make some calls, and you should be fine.
