lighted bow sight?
« on: June 20, 2013, 01:03:38 PM »
My old man is worried that the sight on his bow has some kind of batteries in it or something because there is a nob on the side and when he turns it, the pins light up much brighter then when in the other position. He bought the bow at a RMEF dinner and he can't find anything online about the sight. He lives in Oregon so I can't look at it myself. Thoughts?

I am not sure about OR but if he is Hunting in WA is would be considered illegal.

Not sure that helps you.

Very common....as already mentioned, not legal in WA. My back up bow has the same thing for hunting where legal....when in WA I just unscrew it and leave it off.

Have him take the batteries out and leave the cap that holds them in the sight at home. It is legal to hunt with then.

On most of the newer sights, the whole lighting unit simply unscrews from the sight housing. Unscrew it and leave it at home or throw it in your bow case at camp

Ok. I knew that it was illegal to use anything battery operated but I haven't heard of them actually being built into the sight. I will have to have him look at it and see if it can be detached from him sight. Hate to have him have to buy a new one.

My primary bow sight actually has one also, Like H2o stated, just unscrew it and your good to go. Its great for practice though.
