Did you have to change your front sight to work with that NEGC peep sight?

Thanks!

SR1 (sorry to thread jack...)

I actually ordered a new front sight ramp, sight, and cover.  But while beating the sight onto the ramp with a hammer and punch, the sight ramp came off, trapping one of the screws between the sight and ramp, and bending the ramp pretty good.  I think the screws that were supplied were not long enough.  Anyway........I decided I didn't want an accessory that's so dang difficult to install, so I put the original sight back on.  I have not got alot of range time in with the peep sight; been working with the scope at 100 yards on the last few range trips.  But the front sight seems to be okay.

OK, last time at the range I focused on dialing in the peep site.  It worked great with the stock front sight; elevation was already dialed in.  I just had to move the group over to the left a few inches.   And I'm really impressed at the accuracy with peep sight.  It naturally centers the target to the eye.  I wouldn't have believed that it was that much better than open sights if I hadn't tried it for myself.

Peeps are hard to comprehend till you shoot one. Then you go home and dry fire the same gun and wonder "How in the heck...?" But they is quick.

Hey Exechobo,

You work up a load for that Mountaineer yet?  Dang it's sweet.

I've been trying 120 grains of Triple Seven FFFg, 290 Grain Barnes TMZ Spitfire, and Harvester Crush Rib Sabots.  Last trip at the range got excellent accuracy....until the barrel warmed up. Then it was hit and miss.

The biggest and sometimes the hardest thing to master - to believe that your eyes will do most of the work for you...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
