Access to GMU 663 Capitol Peak.....Any Help Appreciated!
« on: October 17, 2008, 06:57:55 PM »
I went over to Eastern Washington for opening day as usual and had no luck as usual. I live in South King County so I've been trying to find some nearby areas that I can hunt in the mornings or just for a day trip. I've heard that Capitol Forest has it's fair share of deer and thought I might like to check it out. I'd like to access GMU 663 from State Route 8. If anyone could give me some directions to some decent logging roads and clearcuts it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for your honey hole, I just don't want to be looking around in the dark. Thanks.

I would suggest going to the state website and buying a couple maps.  That will show you the entrances.  Google earth or thurstan county assessors website can give you arial vies as far as clear cuts.

If I lived in S. King Co. I would not drive all the way to the CF. But if you go aprox 7 miles past the Summit Lake store you can access the CF through the Straddle Line ORV park.

Get ahold of a map that will show you state and national forest land.  Not sure what would be closest to you.

There are more deer in Vail. I would look more to the East of you. Or south and east of Puyallup.
