Why is this area permit only?

The unit itself is not permit only, it has general seasons, however the permits everyone are referring to are land access permits from timber companies Rayonier and Weyerhauser, reasons being pretty obvious...$$$

i figured it was just for access to the land. I just hope that in the future all weyco land dont go permit only for access.

I don't think all of Weyco land will go permit. From what I know they have to make so much of there land open to the public to maintain tax breaks. But
