Yesterday I was putting out my game cameras. When I got to the area where I have had some cameras stolen last year I saw someone else had deployed a game camera. I don't have a problem with other hunters being in the same area or even putting out their cameras. I was concerned because even thought the camera was locked it was in the open and easy to see. The cameras I had stolen were further back in the brush on some game trails and were also locked to the trees in-which the thief cut to get my cameras. The only way someone would have found my cameras is if they watched me put them up or just dumb luck stumbled across them; however, I do know in this area it can get crowded with brush pickers this time of year up through November season.
So, seeing this camera in the open and having my cameras stolen I wrote and left a note to the owner of the camera "FYI last year I had two cameras stolen from this area. They were locked to trees which were cut down. If you would like more information or someone to hunt this area with give me a call"
So what do you think, was this the right thing to do or should I have just walked away and let things play out? I sure would have felt bad to go back into the area in a month only to see the small tree cut and the camera gone.
