There is no reason any euro should take 3 years. Either we aren't getting the full story or something happened to the deer, possibly the reason for no communication? The 3 year bear rug doesn't surprise me.

It only takes a minute to answer the phone or return a call...

I agree that nearly three years is a long time to wait. I personally Don't mind waiting for good results. My first deer mount took six months to complete. My second deer mount took 18 months. The difference in quality is night and day. If you want a fast turn around there are alot of cheap taxi's out there that will knock it out for ya quick. Just don't expect good results.

Communication is key. If you come off abrasive and demanding you may not get the response you want, if you get a response at all.

That's a good way to end up in small claims court. Abrasive or not, if you take somebodies money or property for a service you need to respond to them regardless.

To the OP,
I had a EXTREMLEY bad experience with a Taxi in Dayton a few years back. I wrote a post on here just as a warning for others. It got flamed on and locked. My pictures back up what I claimed and the Taxi got word of what I said he then joined the site to defend himself and have his friends try and do the same. Pictures pretty much shut them all up.

What I'm getting at is that sometimes you can tell a person that the stove is hot and sometimes they just have to touch it. They will argue with you till they are blue in the face and once they do and they get burnt their face will turn red.

You had a bad experience and that sucks. It happend to be with a site sponsor that lots of members like. That sucks more. I see what your intent was and completely understand why you started this thread. I have had some good interactions over PM with her in the past but I do know that if ANYBODY and I mean ANYBODY I.E. contractor, car washer, lawn guy, paper boy, anybody doing a service for me in which I was paying better make an honest attempt at contacting me. If I'm paying you than i expect to be kept in the loop at all times. If something has come up i expect a phone call, email, text something to put me at ease. I'm a human I understand things come up. However, you cant know, unless you know, you know? Hope this gets worked out.

Seems like he gave her that chance by sending her pm's and several phone calls.

Michelle is very up front with the time frame expected to get a mount finished. She told me up to 18 months for a bear skull but I felt for the quality of work she puts out it was worth the wait time. I personally will continue to use her and take anything I choose to mount to her because of the quality. I also had no problem getting ahold of her wether it be texting or calling I received a prompt response. She will get back to you as soon as she has time I'm sure.

I think the biggest issue is lack of communication. More so then the time frame...

18 months for a bear skull? That is a definitely a sign that someone is behind and taking in more work than they can complete in a timely manner. The taxidermist that I use shoots for 9 months and pretty much guarantees 12 month turn around on all work and he is extremely busy and does awesome work.

I agree.

I appreciate honest testimony.   Moreso when there isn't ax grinding going on or dog piling.   I am very proud of our sponsors and these things are good to know.  I appreciate the pms as well.  Thank you all for your honesty.

I have been doing business with michele for almost 3 years. I knew it would take awhile to get my stuff back when I took it to her. Yet the quality of her work has been very high. I am at 27 months on my rug and 19 months on my deer skull. Sure that is a long time but I know when I pick them up they will look great. We are friends and even I have sent her pms and texts just about random stuff and not heard back from her recently. I know she is getting close on my stuff so if you are at that time frame that you have stated. I would think it would be done pretty soon.

I took two white tails to her the weekend after the opener last year, one for a euro and one shoulder mount.  she told me it would be about 6 months for the euro and 18 for the shoulder mount I told her I'm in no hurry and just call me when it's finished.  I never once called, texted, emailed or PM'd her and sure enough 6 months later I got a phone call letting me know the euro was ready.  I'm very pleased with the work and my experience with her.

It's to bad to see this happening again. I have heard that Michelle was a very good taxi, just maybe not a good business person. As a business owner communication is the key to keeping your business running smooth. You have to find time to stay  in touch with your customers even if it means you work 80-100 hours a week. Unfortunately this seems to be a recurring problem with her and will likely keep me from sending any work there. You can only use the same reasons and or excuses so many times before everyone starts to wonder if the real problem is you. I really hope she can straighten this out and get caught up. Maybe someone would be willing to volunteer to help her out a bit. Even if it's just returning calls to customers.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is who you actually are while your reputation is merely who others think you are.

This is a prime example of what the internet does for you ...when you are on a site like this and it is all hunters and taxidermists and who ever else is using the site and are counting on the people who advertise their business like Michelle and they are good at what they do and then they get way more than they can handle and it causes issues like this ...I know she does awesome work ...and most of us have watched them blossom into some fine taxidermists and getting better everyday , I hope you have your facts straight before making such negative comments ...It takes a lot of time to get animals out the door especially when your good and your buried in animals to get done ... :twocents:

I totally disagree. This day and age of social media, message boards etc will help keep people honest. If they're paying for a service they're entitled to others experiences , thus keeping customer satisfaction job #1. If ya don't want people talking smack, keep em happy, ie, return phone calls, stay within time limits, etc.
