Yeah he has several inches to go.. He's always kept the extra point on his left beam near his g4 .. Right now it's only a inch long .. It's always 4-5" long plus this year he added a matching one on right side. Can't wait to see how he finishes. Be a long wait to hunt him! No time in Sept to chase him.

I hope I get him too! It won't be easy where he lives. The right side has 8 pts and the left 7 pts.. If u look towards the end of the beams he has tines growing on the inside of the rack. He looks like he will continue to grow with almost all his tines still being knobbed

Hope you get him. A great accomplishment if you can. Mountain whitetails sure don't pattern like farmland ones do they!

The hunt for this buck will be mentally taxing ... I can sit for days up there and not see a deer then add super cold and snow. It can wear a person down.

I was just day dreaming earlier about rattling whitetails. I bet you could get him that way at the right time. I don't follow hardly any of the rattling rules established by eastern hunters. They just simply don't apply to our type of deer.

I am going to try some this year.. May lightly rattle abit this sept. I have tried abit over the years and with no luck. These bucks spend their whole life in the mts. No ag fields for 15 miles .

Yep, two different animals, almost like a sub-specie.......mountain whitetails and ag whitetails......some really big bad bucks in those mountains.  We've found sheds at 5k ft in the past, big ones.  Alot in the 4k range.  I actually prefer the mountain deer.

:yeah:  I read an article on "How to Find a Big Whitetail Buck" or something like that and one of the biggest tips was to glass all the alfalfa fields in the mid summer months when deer don't feel threatened so you can locate the big bucks.

:dunno: :dunno: that doesn't work for me?  If you guys find an alfalfa field at 4,000 feet in Ferry County let me know
