Bulls and cow scented wafers.
« on: July 28, 2013, 09:23:53 PM »
Two bull elk sniffing a cow elk scented wafer used for cover scent. The bull on the left bites it, takes it off the tree and lays it on the ground.

When I found the scent wafer on the ground I originally thought a bird or squirrel moved it, but had to laugh a bit when I saw this video.

If you look closely near the text arrows you can see the wafer sticking out of it's mouth and a little glint or shine as the bull turns it's head.

Cool video!  Interesting to see how they reacted.  I once used a full bottle of old cow urine on a trail cam site that had a bull coming in but after I placed the urine,  the bull never stopped there again  :dunno:

I might have to try the wafers.  MUCH lighter than feed or salt blocks  :chuckle:

There are actually three wafers in a triangle in front of this cam during that week long soak. I put fresh ones up during the cam check.

Most of the elk didn't even seem to notice, except the bulls and this cow. This video was a couple days after the bulls.
