Dropped the pots a bit further north today. Still just red rocks. Also dropped the lines while we were out in about 80' of water. After about 10 minutes, I heard "Dad, wha.... What the heck??? DAD!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!" I look over and my oldest boy is about in the water. His rod is in the water about half way. We were drifting and I thought he snagged up. I told him to stand up. When he did, his rod came out of the water and dove back in twice more. I knew it was a fish. Thank god for ugly stiks. That rod tip was bent about 6" down past the handle. I really feared it would snap. It was just a medium action 6-12lb line rated rod with my old Quantum on it. Only had 8lb line on too and I figured that would snap. Low and behold, he fights it and fights it and up comes a 4.5-5' dogfish. His first. He has bugged me and bugged me in the past to try to catch one. Well, he caught a nice one. He sat about 10 minutes after we released it, just resting and taking it in. It was really cool.Fighting away!!!Pic of the fish. Pic doesn't do it justice. I should have boated it for a scale picture
