Had this moment coming down the oak creek.rd about 515. Seen these four alive rattlesnakes eating two dead rattlesnakes. I wish I had my 22 with me instead of my 7mm.

It was a good thing that I forgot my hearing protection at home or I would have seen a lot more snakes shooting.

Spin your tires on them. It skins them out pretty good and ready to grill!

:yeah: It's more fun to shoot non-native critters like Starlings and Eurasian Doves.  These puny rattlers around here don't hurt 'nuthin!  :chuckle: Wish I had a few in my yard--keeps the canvassers and solicitors away!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Fastest snake we ever killed died from a dip of copehagen. We opened its mouth and were milking it. While its mouth was open I dropped in a dip. It instantly started frothing blood and quivered a couple seconds, then went instantly limp. Done.  Whole thing was less than 10 seconds. I was blown away cuz they always squirm for a half hour or so after dying from head trauma. I think it had a heart attack.  Dead rattlers are my favorite kind. Plenty of other snakes out there to eat rodents.

good to know that they die off copenhagen, but I for one never plan to have my hand that close to the business end of a rattlesnake, and if I do, my girly screams and instant panic will drown out any thoughts of feed it some copenhagen!  :IBCOOL:

While I appreciate anything that will keep the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Kirby vacuum salesmen away I do know a few three legged bird dogs that might disagree about them not hurtin' nuthin!  I agree with Fastdam...Plenty of other snakes out there to eat rodents.  I won't bother a bull snake, but rattlers are a different story.  I'll have to remember next time I whack one over the head to shove some Copenhagen down their throat just to be sure :chuckle:
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I recommend the ophidiophobic land cannon for pesky serpents.  12 gauge #9 shot.  Years ago I took my son on a hike near Challis, ID.  I told him stay on the trail to avoid snakes.  I steped right over a 4 foot rattler on the trail.

Rattlesnakes are far to delicious to leave for the rats.
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.

I use a mop handle to the noggin. Saves on the skins. Plus who doesn't like a little bit of a challenge?
