Been awhile since I have fished Sekiu, school me please!

Woo Hoo! Got reservation to fish Sekiu 16th and 17th, I will be hoping for a nice king for my sons first salmon (not landlocked).
I will be renting one of Curley's boats so no down rigger.
In the past we used cut plug behind 5 or 6 oz banana sinker. Sometimes with a flasher, or Pink Lady, but usually just cut plug hearing, about 50 to 80 pulls. We would troll as far west as Eagle bay and as far east as Piller Point depending where they seemed to be congregating at the time.

That reminds me I still have to re-line three poles, anyone have line or test recommendations?

I am also looking for any ideas that could be more productive from anyone who fishes Sekiu regularly.

I am thinking of buying a few green and white flashers and some coyote spoons. I have never fished a coyote spoon though.

The fish report from Curley's said the fish, even pinks, were running 120ft deep!
Hard to get near there without a down rigger, LOL

I caught a 55 right in front of the caves with a 4 ounce lead and herring out of a Olson rental boat. Also go right outside the green can if the caves aren't productive.

Wow a 55! I think kings close on the 15th, might want to check that. Their still fun to catch. You can't beat a cut plug. That's what I would go with mostly. If the fish are deep  just mooch for them. You shouldn't have any problems catching fish then. I'll be there that following week. Good luck.

Yeah it took over 45 minutes to reel it in. We chased it so many times by the time we landed it we were almost by the seiku river. You can mooch for them also if your worried about getting deep.

55lb is graded as a bruiser in AK and for here WOW!  Let's see picture of that beast for sure..

No pics my drunk friend took the camera out of the boat the night before. There were boats following us just to see how big it was, one of the boats was the research boat. We got it in the net of course a native. I was so mad i weighed it anyways because i knew i would never catch another salmon like that in my life. When we got back to the docks there was some guy showing off a 40 pound native. I was so pissed i wanted to punch him in the face. He said he caught it in neah bay and he drove straight into sekiu.

I should be there at the same time. I typically stay in Neah and run the boat to sekiu waters in the morning. Hail for me on 16 Kenzmad. We can bs on 68
