There are coyotes everywhere. Creek bottoms all the way to the mountain tops. Everywhere.  Get away from houses and keep a crosswind.
No need to get away from houses, i shoot about 1 a week off my porch :chuckle:

your right.you dont even need to get away from houses. We had a pup in the yard last year. I have also killed a bunch off the porch. I saw two last week on my way to work. One was beside t he airport At 40th and washington. He was huge. Real red too..

I live off of 64th and washington and I hear yotes howling at night all the time in the orchards and alfalfa fields. I also saw one run across the west valley high school parking lot last week.  Cowiche area has a few as well as the lt murry. Any public land around Yakima you can find coyotes. Kill them all and don't educate them.  good luck and watch out for snakes!

What do you do with the coyotes after shooting them? Pelts? Food? Are they tasty?

It seems to be the only thing you can hunt year round.

When the fur is prime(Nov-Feb) you can sell the pelts or tan them and make items like gloves, mitten, vest, coats, pretty much anything want, my wife wants a coyote throw for the house here.  Commercial garment tanning is about $20/ea or you can tan them yourself, I used to tan skunk pelts and make mittens, it's a lot of work.

While I've eaten coyote it wouldn't be on my top ten list, might not even make the top one-hundred and even then I'd like a lot of strong sauce on it, now raccoon, beaver, muskrat, bobcat, and turtle are top notch fare.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.
