Having owned both, and still own higher end models of both, in that price range I personally would give Redfield a shot...............And I dont like BDC reticles....way too  generic.    :twocents:

We just put a Nikon Buckmaster on my wife's .270. The best quality for the money we wanted to spend. Yesterday I picked up a rangefinder. There was a "top of the line" Bushnell for $260 on sale, ended up walking out with the Nikon prostaff 550 for $60 less, it my opinion it was head and shoulders better overall quality than the bushnell! I'm no Bushnell hater...if have a Bushnell scope on one of my other rifles, and it gets the job done. Nikon does seem to put out nice products though.

Nikon.
I have a ProStaff 4x and it is amazingly clear and bright.
In the Bushnell line, I would only buy Elite.
Redfield is junior Leupold, and anything below a VX-II is not going to ride on any of my firearms...That warranty is just another way of saying 'it's going to crap the bed at some point'.
No thanks.

I use a Bushnell Trophy XLT on my 30-06 and really like it. For the price it works great for me.

I believe they have that warranty on all their scopes. It's really just another way of saying we stand behind our product!

I guess we all have our opinions ..and they are all good ones ...I always had bushnell scopes on my rifle ...since I was 10 .. :yike: But I also have Nikons on some of my rifles too ! But Bushnell as been on my guns much longer ...All I can tell you is this ...Back east I hunted in some serious cold weather ..never ever had a bushnell fog up or as my brother or father ...then I came to Washington ...moved to the wetside ...rains cats and dogs  :dunno: :chuckle: Same scopes came with me from PA .... Hunted in major down pours in Washington again never ever had any issues what So ever ...Now the only thing that could make a difference in Bushnell scopes is the brand name ...Mine scopes are all Banner Scopes ....I have not bought any of the newer ones yet .. But I will as soon as mine go belly up ....I always like being the under rated kinda guy ....If someone needs a 300 win mag ...I need a .243  :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: :twocents:

All mid-tier scope manufacturers stand behind their products....Some just have to stand behind more of their  products than others.

I get alot of internet sales crap and some of it is for optics.........Most of the blow out stuff is refurbed Nikon scopes, and the lions share is Pro-Staff......I dont know what this means exactly, but it steers me clear of low end Nikons or any other similar scopes........... :twocents:
