counting down
« on: August 16, 2013, 12:18:06 PM »
Elk season is just days away.  It always seems like I'm never as prepaid as I should be but I guess I'm pretty much ready.  Both bows shooting good most of the broad heads I have are set up and ready.  Just ordered 18 new arrows 12 field points 6 new broadhead brings my total broadhead count to 26 (should be plenty).  Going over next Sunday with H20hunter to do the finishing touches on stands and blinds and hanging a few cams again.  I'll be leaving on the 31st and not coming home until the 15th :IBCOOL:

I know you want to account for all mishaps and what have you, but why do you carry so many arrows? 2 Bows, releases etc., I understand. I'm purely inquiring so I may learn something I dont know, or havent thought of.

I am counting down to my elk hunt as well. 29 days and counting. Been purchasing gear, checking old gear, shooting my bow, working out and stretching at the gym. I also get some funny looks when I am driving home from work and blowing on my cow calls.  :chuckle:

I only carry 5 arrows at a time but throughout the years broadhead have just been collecting so I took them all down had new blades put in them then had them put on arrows.  Once I have a broadhead tuned and on an arrow I don't take it off until it has been shot.  I for one wouldn't leave on a week long hunting trip with less than 12 broadheads.

First time in years that I don't have family obligations and I do have alot of vacation time at the same time, taking the 1st week of archery elk off and hitting 560 hard. Unfortunately my elk hunting buddies are either working or their wives are making them vacation in Europe so I'm going solo.
Happy, happy, happy! :)

Count me in for the count down....  I got all 2 weeks off for bow season. First time I've had 2 straigt weeks off of work in 8 years and I couldn't think of a better way of using my vacation time!
Take up your bow, a quiver full of arrows, head out to the country and hunt some wild game.  GEN 27:3

  I take 5 broadheads in the quiver and a few extra in the pack plus 6 or 7 extra arrows.
