Anti-gun social bigotry in Seattle
« on: August 18, 2013, 08:00:18 PM »
 :bash:

Anti-gun Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and Washington CeaseFire are teaming up Monday to encourage businesses in the city to become “gun free zones,” an effort that may “make a statement” but has no track record of discouraging a single crime.

Would love to see a few businesses do this, then lose enough customers to close down.

Sounds like a good sticky to me at the top of this section.  I would like to not be a patron of theirs.

Here is the start of the list, I truly hope it doesn't grow! http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,132207.msg1760626.html#msg1760626

I'd be curious to see the correlation stats on shootings/businesses to see how many of the shooters were actually patrons of those businesses.

My guess is the packing customers are the least likely to be committing the shootings. :twocents:

I pray that is the case. But would rather not see this happen at all.

Please all write and call our representatives here in WA about this.

This evening I put together this quick email and sent it via the NRA's system found here: http://www.nraila.org/get-involved-locally/grassroots/write-your-reps.aspx

My letter (Feel free to use all or any part of this):

I am 100% opposed to “Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and Washington CeaseFire are teaming up Monday to encourage businesses in the city to become “gun free zones,””

http://www.examiner.com/article/gun-free-zone-effort-launched-seattle?CID=examiner_alerts_article

I don’t know what is in the hearts of those that slight the Second Amendment. Don’t understand how this reflects an oath to the Constitution. See below for a reference to why I state this.

From the book “The Second Amendment” by David Barton

St. George Tucker, an Attorney and military officer wounded twice during the American Revolution, was one of the leaders of the 1786 Annapolis Convention that led to the convening of the Constitutional Convention in 1787 wrote:

“The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever… the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the bring of destruction”

To Mayor Mike McGinn and Washington CeaseFirehHow does this current effort reflect the “Spirit” of the Constitution that was made clear by the founders? Don’t try the “Safety” line as Franklin already covered that “Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”. Your effort states Unalienable Rights given by God and listed in the Bill of Rights not valid if Tyranny of the majority is possible? Would you agree with that?

Looks good cowboycraig. One typo I found... see: "bring (K) of destruction".

Great job.

Here's mine:

As your constituent, I want to urge you to support Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and Washington CeaseFire in their proposal to encourage businesses in the city to become “Gun Free Zones”. Assuming that this program would be voluntary and only within the Seattle city limits, of course. I would like to add the suggestion that any and all businesses that choose to participate in this program be: visibly posted as being a proud participant in G.F.Zs. and that a list of all participating businesses be proudly published in multiple media outlets in order to improve visibility. Finally, might I suggest some incentive be offered (funded by the City of Seattle of course) to draw businesses who wish to participate in the "G.F.Zs." program into the Seattle City limits, drawing them out of the more gun-lovin', backwoods, redneck, 2nd Amendment preachin' areas of our beautiful Washington State. Conversly, businesses within the City limits could be compensated for moving elsewhere.
I truely believe that with programs like this and similar others, like-minded folks could be concentrated into the tightest geographical area within our incredible State. Such a wonderful concentration of Statists would ultimately draw the criminal element out of the rest of our fine State to where the pickins come easy and the penalties weak. The side benefit of such a program would be just how much more wonderful the rest of our fair State will be once the Statists AND the criminals are drawn into Seattle. I will miss the Mariners and the Seahawks, but once the G.F.Zs. program is fully implemented, go ahead and just wall off the entire city. It's ok by me. We Constitutionalists won't mind that much. Some sacrifices need to be made, I s'pose.
Thank You for your time and consideration
