I've only had it raw with sushi.  Salmon and flying fish.

Lol! no one ever eats sushi? The salmon roe rolls aren't MY thing, love most other types of sushi though.. but it's not that uncommon for people to eat the roe.

Roe is the main reason that commercials and Indians net chums and pinks. The meat goes off to be made into cat food, dog food, whatever, but the roe gets sent overseas for BIG BUCKS. Same as the herring fisheries in AK. They aren't after the fish, they're after the roe.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Yes, I did really eat them Smossy,
and no they don't usually fry them Sumbeech66.
When I get some more I'll cure them, so I don't have to buy caviar anymore.
Def eat sushi with it, but usually I like to spread some butter on a piece of bread top it off with caviar and just munch on it.

Silly Japanese, eating bait when you can eat fish

I've eaten and enjoyed other "alternative" salmon products including "white roe" and an Alaskan treat called "stink eggs".

Can't say I care for the eggs though! Salmon eggs are edible, but I prefer my fish less fishy-oily (and salty if cured). The oil explosion of fish-oil when the eggs burst I find rather gross. Stink eggs were actually better.

  Looks like you bled them this time.  I toss mine in the cooler but I use 2 liter bottles frozen and then put water in the cooler as it seems to cool them faster and more completely than just with ice cubes.

As far as the roe, I'm not a big fan but a buddy of mine loved the caviar I made from a 30 lb king many years ago, she had 8 pounds of eggs.   :yike:
