Tagged Out!!
« on: October 24, 2008, 10:52:16 PM »
It has been an awesome week of hunting.  Shot my first deer and buck last weekend, and my second deer, a doe, by filling my second deer tag tonight.  I went to the same spot where I got my buck, but the place seemed to be cleared out.  I came to a nice clearing sat down and got comfortable.  After a quick glance I didn’t see anything so I began to unpack my bag a little.  I looked up again and saw a shadow, one of those many shadows in the woods that could be anything.  The shadow moved so I pulled up the rifle.  Saw the doe in my scope and with one shot the rest was history.  The deer didn’t know what hit her.
Its great to see results after many years of hard work.  I should have lots of great meet in the freezer this winter between two bear and now two deer.  Here are a few pictures of her…another attempt at a self-portrait with a cell phone camera.

Great shooting.  That is a season to remember.

p.s.  I don't mean to spoil your day, but I can't help but add this after reading your post.  Did you identify your target with your rifle scope?   :bdid:  If so, you need to break this habit and use binos instead.   If not, my appologies.   Again, great job, and I hope you understand.

I was very close to the doe when it steped out if the woods so I could tell instantly it was shootable. I did take awhile to make sure my shooting lane was clear. I have let a lot of animals walk taking the extra time to be safe. It is not worth it to compromise safety. I am especialy paranoid about it this year considering the Saulk Mt accident

Dang man... you've had a good week!  Nice job!
I would rather be a conservative nut job, than a liberal with no nuts, and no job!
