Multiseason elk tag
« on: August 31, 2013, 07:43:23 PM »
So I just went down to pick up my multiseason tags (finally able to afford them) and when I went to purchase the point of sale location I went to said I couldn't buy them because WDFW isn't open. No where in the regs does it say WDFW has to be open to purchase tags, just states that they can be purchased anytime prior to sept 1st.....I'm alittle irritated about this

Technically you can purchase at a dealer any time before Sept. 1, but if you had chosen a weapon and were issued a weapon specific tag they have to have someone at WDFW void your original tag when you surrender it to the dealer before you can purchase multi.

Sorry to hear that, I got the run around on the multi season deer tag all week. Tried to buy my multi season deer tag Monday, didn't have my tag to surrender. No big deal, right? Went back Thursday with license and tag, get to the counter, the girl calls wdfw, they tell her that I have to mail the tag to Olympia, when they get it they will void it then I can come back and purchase my tag. Wtf, who is going to do that when the opener for archery is Sunday. So now Saturday rolls around, I figure I will try and buy it and see if there was some kind of mistake. First place the guy at the hardware store didn't know what he is doing. Ok will try bi mart now, nope computer is down. Now I try another bi mart they get through to wdfw and they tell me to come back Tuesday. So after a week of trying to buy this stupid tag I will keep my money. Lesson learned on this one, won't even bother to apply next year.

Did you already pirchase your elk tag? If u did they have to call game department to turn in the original tag so if there closed they cant do it.

Ive purchased the tags every year and just waited till last day to get them...there is nothing in the regs or online that says that they have to be voided by wdfw just says you have to give weapon specific tag back

You might want to rethink that answer.

http://wdfw.wa.gov/help/questions/337/If+drawn+for+a+Multiple+Season+permit%28s%29%2C+can+I+purchase+the+Multiple+Season+tag%28s%29+online%3F

If you have previously purchased your general season deer or elk license and taken possession of your general season tag(s) before being drawn for a Multiple Season permit(s), then you cannot complete the purchase online. Instead, visit a License Vendor and contact the WDFW Licensing Division in Olympia at (360) 902-2464. Only WDFW can void your general season tag if more than 60 minutes have passed since your hunting license was purchased.
