It is not illegal to open and or inspect a game camera that is not your own, that is set up on private property.  But it is illegal to maim somebody

Wait a minute...if its on private property how is that not illegal (trespass)??

Because a felony trumps a misdemeanor

As I read your statement you said it IS NOT ILLEGAL to inspect a game camera on private property but it is illegal to maim somebody.  I understand that setting a trap that seriously injures someone would "trump" the trespass issue but that was not my point, which is that it is illegal to enter private property and check a trail cam or do anything for that matter without permission of the landowner.  You can't even retrieve a legally harvested deer that runs and dies on private property if the landowner doesn't allow you to!

Sounds like a lawsuit magnet to me. Not a good idea for liability reasons. Sorry but my  :twocents:.

Cool idea, but illegal. It shows premeditation in the eyes of the court.  The law frowns on booby traps

Maybe safer to focus on a stink bomb . If you could seal it tight enough so animals don't smell it and  then leaked stinky stuff on them, their clothes and in there car. At least you would get the last laugh. Driving around for six months in a truck that smell like sulfur or bad perfume.
I'm not sure.
