Well at least you made it out in one piece.

No kidding. That was the worst lightning storm I have ever rode out in the high country. I couldn't count to 5 between lightning strikes.

I've got video and pictures of the storm at 7000 ft but it's too large to put on this site

The fireball helped sleep :)  Thank god we stashed it during scouting...

Fireball?? we packed in 2 fifths of R&R for the trip and finished them off that night 40 ft away from the tents under a tarp that didn't have any metal in it!

Nothing a little quick resizing in paint won't cure for those pictures

We headed away from our tents and down the ridge for that storm too.  We put on our rain gear and brought our tarp down hill and hunkered down under a tree and the tarp.  That made for a long night.  No booze for me... couldn't justify the weight.  Road out the storm though... after heat, lightning, fog, fog, fog, snow, sleet, rain, it turned nice and we were able to glass again.

Duh...that's why you stash it on scouting trips ;)

I thought about the fact that I was surrounded by titanium poles during that lightning storm while atop a mountain.  My dad and I had 3 trees fall within 100 yards of our tents from the lightning. Needless to say there wasn't much sleep that night.
