Your feeling of accomplishment most be very high with such a physically demanding hunt.
I believe a feeling of accomplishment can be had in all situations, example a rookie hunter took his first deer with a bow, may not of hiked for miles or stalked for hours but in the end he made a good shot on his first live animal, successfully killing it.
He gutted his first animal on his own and skinned it, all part of the learning curve and helped him gain the knowledge he will need on the buck he takes next after hunting and hiking for days...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

well, after all the miles we put down last year to only see ONE legal BT, and to then have my hunting partner scare it off, stories like this make me want to shoot....myself  :bash:

Just ate our first meal from the deer....doe backstrap, top sirloin, little bea4 and elk steak, and a touch of portabella gravy.
