Meat hunting this weekend....Recap with pics.

Well, the brother in law and I are heading a bit east to hang with another forum member and try and make some meat. We are looking for any legal deer, muley doe/3pt or any whitetail. Grouse are fair game and bear is on the menu if one stumbles upon us. We went out to the range last night for a last minute tune up and 3d session. First thing we did was shoot one arrow cold at 30 yards focusing on making the first shot count since we all know that may be the only one you get. We were a little off as you can see in the pic. We were standing a few feet apart hence the different angle of entry. I'm shooting my Spyder 34 and he is shooting my older Darton. You can see a bit of difference in penetration. Needless to say I was pleased with our first shot cold.
Next we moved over to the broadhead pit. Both boths are shooting within an inch of POA out to 40. Moved from there to the 3d course and the "proving shot" was fairly downhill, about 40 yards, no rangefinder used, on a small deer target. The brother in law let 'er fly and the nice thunk of foam was heard. We walked down and he drilled it. Right in the boiler, perfectly behind the shoulder. Called it good after that and headed home.
So, hopefully we will find a few dumb ones to hold still and we will make some meat. Heading over first thing in the morning and should be skinning and sipping some fireball by tomorrow evening.

Good luck, Looks like a kill shot on target. Nothing wrong with meat hunting. Hunter with a freezer full of meat is happier than a hunter who hunts for antlers and an empty tag.

Yep...hoping for two tags notched. I'll be taking the GoPro and trying to get at least my hunt on video.
