Camo Paint Your Rifle (Amazing)
« on: September 19, 2013, 10:34:20 AM »
I found this site while looking for camo ideas. It is so simple.
I have painted my share of duck boats, guns etc. and thought they looked pretty good...until this!
I tried this technique on my Savage 30-06 and the results are amazing.

That's awesome.

That's awesome.
I can't believe how easy it was. It looks like factory applied camo.

Tonight the clear coat will be dry, I will post some as soon as I can.
It's not as good as in the article but still very cool patterns.

Here is the best link I have found for painting a rifle.  I used these steps on a .223 and it looks sharp.  It was kind of a test run.  I just used krylon.

Very nice.
I think the duck boat is going to get an emergency make-over.

I've been doing basically the same thing for quite awhile, it is a ton of fun and there are no others like it.  I also did a guitar I built just to see if I could.  I'll try and post pics.  The camo is a 30-06, the wood stock is one I built   The guitar, played in a band in the 80's what more can I say  :chuckle:

I have done about 4 guns now. 2 for my grandfather in-law and 1 each for my wife and I. its not hard and I really enjoy doing it. I only got the pictures of the 3 but start with the lightest color first and go darker. leaves, straw and the kinda pine spikey branches work great.

I start with primer then do a base of tan
next I use a bigger leaf like a oak leaf and use the brown, moving the leaf around and using different sizes to keep it "natural" looking
than use something fern like, false cedar branches or other bushy tree branches (I cut them from my neighbors bush lol) and use the green
last is black and use it real lightly, the trick is to make it "shadow" like
than I use a flat or satin clear to help from scratching.

the pink and tan ones are just two colors using straw

Find a pattern you like and test it off the gun first, taking paint back off sucks!
