Question for trappers on the Olympic Peninsula
« on: September 23, 2013, 08:30:15 AM »
I've been reading some articles lately on potential reintroduction of fishers to Mt. Rainier National Park and the North Cascades NP Complex.

Has the reintroduction of fishers to the Olympic Peninsula affected trappers in that area?
Which side are you on if neither will claim you?

It shouldn't since you are supposed to be using live traps and they can be released.   :dunno:

I think he means have the fishers in the OP affected/reduced the population and catch of other species trappers target in the area.

I do not know if there is any correlation but at  least where I live mountain beavers have about dissapeared. They are a really important prey animal for bobcats.
Again I have zero evidence that Fishers caused it. In fact it is probably pretty farfetched as I don't think there are many fishers around. I don't know anyone that has caught one and they are supposed to be pretty easy to lure into a trap.

Long winded way to say I don't know. :dunno: :chuckle:
