Would you have to wear hunter orange?

No.  Modern Firearm for deer/elk has to be open for orange.
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'

The game wardens frown on it but it is not against the law.  In certain areas I'd carry my firearm in case of filling a bear, bobcat or cougar tag.  Check your regs to make sure you can hunt other species during the modern, muzzle or bow season for these species.  I've seen them close cougar during modern firearm season in certain areas!

I will be in Mt View also w/ the deer muzzy tag. If you or your fiance get something down and need help, dont be afraid to ask. Will be camped in my wall tent. Dark blue 89 chevy w/ a Ted Nugent arrow for an antenna. My name is Walt. Good luck to both of you.

I was told by a warden that your friend can hunt bear if he or she has a valid tag. but if your hunting deer your weapon better match your tag . you could say that your both bear hunting but the problem comes into play if you harvest a deer and have both weapons on your person . she could always just shoot the bear with the muzzy then you would have no issues . some times just because you can do something doesn't make it easyier or worth it . pick the battle you want to fight . look at the reaction the guys got for scouting elk with a bear tag ! good luck on your hunt with your friend ;)

Hmmm.... Curious question.  I was thinking about it myself actually, but mire along the lines of me carrying an unloaded rifle in my pack. The thought was, what if I see a big boar while elk hunting next weekend, and that big boar is 400 yards away? At that range, I'd opt to uncap the muzzie, stick it in my pack, load the 7mm rem mag, and proceed to stock closer on said boar until I was ready to make the shot. With my 7mm, that's a lot further than with the muzzie....   I think it could pose problems though.  I do have a pack that holds my rifle fully contained and cased that I will be out with, but would that just make it look like u was trying to hide it? Who knows. Probably legal, but maybe too much a pain in the butt if someone was looking for reasons to cite...
