Do us all a favor and actually plant the birds this year and don't just turn them loose in the road/parking lot the night before.

must be the same guy that releases at smith farm. Last season I lost count of how many birds flew right off the release site after he turned them loose. Easily several dozen that I saw.

Shillipoo has been a real problem.  Especially once they decided to get rid of all the blackberries that held birds and served as a buffer to keep stray pellets from other hunters.  Not sure if the guy who releases has friends he tips off or what.  But, there have been some real goofy activities with the release of birds there for quite a few years.  And once Andersen started doing the silage cutting there it has been no corn worth a dang for holding birds either.  One or two stalks wide is not enough to hold birds you jack wagon greedy B@^*&$ds.  Five years ago that was a premier release site!  Now, barely worth the price of a permit.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Same thing at Skookumchuck. The lazy state worker pulls over to the shoulder and opens the crates. Birds fly across the river to the tress. Pointless! One reason I dont hunt there. Ft Lewis does a great job.

They're all volunteers aren't they? You need to let the site managers know if you want improvements :twocents:

if its volunteer based then volunteer, when lazy people see how much work someone wants to put into something they will useally drop off. push the lazy dudes out and take it over, just dont become the same as the people you dislike and tell your buddies to piss up a rope when they are trying to press for info and such

I believe they are paid employees, with the state. The pheasant farm is in Chehalis. Im almost certain they are paid employees. Unfortunately there is no room to bitch when it comes to pheasant release issues. The state keeps threatening to cut the whole program. It wont be around much longer in my opinion as it is.

Call your local WDFW office and talk to the area manager. A calm cool conversation WITH suggestions on how to improve goes a long way. Bitching and complaining will get you nowhere. Thank them for their work. Working for WDFW is probably not the best job around.

Cheers!

Would be a shame since they are so equiped and have so much invested in the raising of pheasants. Would be a great loss for everyone involved.

Agree. I hunt Ft Lewis regularly for the past 13 years. The volunteers there do a great job with the regular season and more importantly with the youth season IMHO. I try to thank these guys every chance I get.  Anytime I hear another hunter complain, I ask them what they do to volunteer & that usually shuts them up.

To those pheasant release volunteers @ JBLM/ Ft Lewis- a big thank you & job well done.
