Badger Mt. for deer ?

I was wondering if anyone knew what the hunting is like on or near Badger Mt.
I have 3 sons that are hunting this year and would like to look for a mule deer for them. We live in Kalama and would like to get away from the rat race of the Coweeman unit ....hope someone can help us out a lil

Buglin4bulls is correct. My inlaws have a bunch of acreage up there. I could hunt it if I wanted too but Mid-Sept to the End of October is a crazy arse nuts time at work. Unfortunately it doesn't have a late buck season in that unit, if it did I would so be there.

you better know someone up there , my wifes uncle drive farm equipment up there and says he see's nice bucks but getting on the land is almost impossible .

deer east slope of the cascades north of i90 to the boarder . 5000 foot mark is a good early season bet or low locals

Used to be able to access the south slopes from the Palisades, but I immagine, like most other things, that has changed.................once upon a time, Palisades was unreal.

Everywhere gets hit hard with people. Count on it unless your deep in off any roads backpacking.

I saw an elk in the ditch this morning along 97 just South of Orondo.i know there are lots of deer but never saw elk east of the river.

There's no great area to recommend for mule deer in Washington with good harvest opportunities relatively close to roads on public lands unfortunately, especially with current herd conditions.  However, there is enough good country to have a good time with a truck camp on the Okanogan/Wenatchee National Forest in 200 series GMUs.  The recently burned areas will have the most visible deer and most of the hunters too.  If it was me I'd avoid the recent burns, hunt the open forested areas above 2500-3000' elevation.  Camp along the edge of what can be driven to, and hunt the areas beyond.  Let the boys know the deer numbers are low, but you will be learning good deer country and will have that much advantage when the numbers improve in future years - and you might get lucky and fill a tag.  That's also good bear country and it's looking encouraging for grouse too.

FYI this is a six year old thread that got revived so that Palmer could let us know he saw a dead elk on the side of 97.  Skyvalhunter then chimed in that it used to be good for elk and there should still be some elk in the area.

I am thinking the OP came up with a spot for his kids to hunt, they are young adults now.
