Hwy 12 washout
« on: October 01, 2013, 01:46:54 PM »
Anybody hear anything about Hwy 12 being closed because of a washout. The news on the radio briefly mentioned it. Somewhere between Oak Creek Feeding Station and White Pass. That covers a large area and I would like to know exactly where the washout occurred. I hope I can get to the Bethel Ridge Road. :dunno:

NACHES, Wa. - The Washington State Department of Transportation says part of Highway 12 near Naches is closed because of a washout on the roadway.
A 45 mile section of US-12 is closed in both directions from the Oak Creek feeding station, about one mile west of the State Route 410 Junction to the State Route 123 Junction just west of White Pass.
The closure runs through Yakima and Lewis Counties over White Pass, from milepost 138 to milepost 183.
Drivers can take State Route 410 and State Route 123 as an alternate route. However, commercial traffic is prohibited on the alternate routes.
DOT crews are working to clear the roadway near milepost 154, but they aren't sure when the stretch of US 12 will open again.
When I pass, do not let my wife sell the guns for what I told her they cost.

Thanks! Hopefully, they will get it open so all the Rimrock and Bethel hunters can get in and out.

That is a big stretch of road out.  Makes it more difficult to access the south side of bumping.

So your saying that hunters heading into the Rimrock next week will be allowed to head in if the road is still closed... or are they only letting hunters with existing camps head in?

One thing you can count on in this country is when it rains hard trees are gonna fall and roads are going to wash away. Its just a natural law.  The last hwy 410 slide at the woodshed was epic!
