Methow Valley deer
« on: October 08, 2013, 08:00:29 PM »
So it seems like everyone here {Boeing, Everett} that can walk is going deer hunting in the Methow..... Way more than usual. The poachers ruined the Republic area, no one wants to go farther east {Too far to drive} and the west side is to wet and brushy. People that have never hunted now have a few bucks in their pockets and are heading for Twisp........I'm predicting Beer and Blood. People are asking me the most novist questions.......What do you do after you shoot the deer? How do you gut it without busting the intestine and ruining the meat? How do you know if it has 3 points if its far off. The roads are gonna look like Seattle Rush hour. I'll be there in the crowd in a little red Ford Ranger with a black rack and a disabled hunter sign looking to fill my doe tag. Wave and I'll share my thermos. I've been trying to get people to go to Chelan or the Clockum. Spread it out a little.   Good luck everyone.
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.

vegans are falling off the wagon every since some tree hugger wrote that wild game meat is "OK",  So the granolas are adding (trying to add) venison to their flaked oats diet  :chuckle:

People seem to be leaving tomorrow and Friday. They all want me to point out where to go....... I tell them to go scout out some public land. Most will get drunk, not get out till noon, hunt till 4:30 and go home sun. night.

The camper migration started last Friday and has been steadily increasing every day since.

:yeah: It will be like a war zone up in the woods I'm sure. :bash: and then they wonder why the only deer they see are in or next to the road as they are driving out of the woods in the dark

Wait a minute!?!?!?  I thought there were no deer left in the Methow and that NO ONE hunted there anymore because the wolves killed everything... and the survivors are living under porches inside the city limits!!!  What gives?   :chuckle:

I have scouted the Methow several times this summer, (Texas Creek, Benson Creek, Gold Creek, Libby Creek and other parts of lower valley), and have not seen many deer.  I saw only a few bucks and all were small 2 and 3 points.  All the deer must be north of Winthrop.

I looked in the same areas. Saw one big buck and a lot of does by the Indian Dan Canyon bird hunting area. Right above the NEW orchard. Other than that  just ones and twos.
