Kettle Crest buck.
« on: October 14, 2013, 12:36:00 PM »
Me and my little (bigger) brother got it done up on the crest.  We packed in Friday and set up camp at 6500 ft.  We woke up early on Saturday to a blanket of fresh snow.  Had a tough hike up to 7000 ft over and under a bunch of blow down.  I spotted this guy bedded down just off the back side of the mountain at about 150 yards. The brother put a perfect shot on him...then to work started.  It was tough but we had him boned out and we were back at the trail head by early afternoon.  Not a bad opening day, and the best part was sharing it all with my bro!

The first pic is a selfie I tried to take of me, my bro, and the deer...not the best shot I know.  the second pic is just me and I think It does the most justice. This buck was big and old....all boned out we had over 90 lbs of just meat!

Youd be sad now.  The wolves have decimated the muleys there.  Still a few obviously

:yeah: and they're moving down too.  I will go insane when they move down into the whitetail winter range in a few years.

We talked to one hunter Saturday just before our pack out.  He claimed to have seen fresh wolf tracks on top of some deer tracks...midnight mountain area.
