Tuesday Buck Down
« on: October 15, 2013, 08:57:58 PM »
Got this guy today. My first buck! I've always wanted to hunt and decided to in February this year. Got my hunters safety knocked out and started scouting. Yesterday I had a few hours to spare so I went to an area I hadn't been to yet and saw this guy. Air mailed one passed him yesterday and didn't get a second shot. I was so excited and shaking so dang bad!

Went out early this morning. We were on our bikes for 2 miles. First cut we came to we got on some deer. Before we could get close enough to get a better look the fog rolled in and we could hardly see 20 yards. We bailed. My hunting partner and I went our separate ways. I figured I'd hit that cut from yesterday see if I could get on this buck again.

Got to the cut and moved through it real slow. Got to the top, sat down, and started glassing. I first saw his tail twitch while his head was down. He eventually looked up and I knew I had to get him, but he moved into the trees and was gone. 20 minutes later I saw him again, broadside, and down he went!

You're off to a good start; patience and persistance. Nice buck. He's about as big as my first one in California but mine only had a 3/8" fork on one side to make him legal. You're hooked now!

Yes it is. Didn't know it was in the pic till someone said so. My buddy made the trip to me after I shot the deer to literally celebrate with a cold one with me and run. Ran back to his truck to get back to what he was doing. And he left some extras for me. True friend!
