Alrighty.  I started the write up last night on my phone and was just about done and it locked up and lost everything.  So let's try again on the PC this time.

Day 6, got a 1/2 inch of snow which helped, but it was really foggy.  It ended up helping me sneak in closer which was nice.  The only downfall, Range finders don't work in the fog  :bash:  It warmed up quick in the morning and everything was starting to melt.  I got into a nice bunch of deer that had several bucks.  One nice 4 pt and another bigger 4pt.  I got to 60 yds of the bigger one but only a rear end shot.  They walked off into the fog so I circled and got the wind again.  Caught up to them and found the smaller 4 pt and anther buck bedded at 40 yds.  They spotted me first and started walking away.  The 4 pt gave me a quick opportunity so had to kneel down under a branch and attempt a 45 yd shot.  Not 45 yds  :bash: I either misjudged distance or leaned back on the release and shot just over him literally giving him a buzz cut.  The arrow hit some sage and busted in half.  There was hair all over the snow.  I tracked him for quite a while and no blood.  Definitely shot over him.    Took after another bunch a little later in the morning and just couldn't find any good bucks.

Day 7, This was my last day as I needed to get home to the family.  It got cold after everything was melting off which made it extremely crunchy again.  Once again we had fog to deal with so spotting was out of the question.  Did a morning hike and spotted a couple nice bucks 200 yds out but they were already spooked due to the noise.  Dad radioed me and said he saw a nice tall 4pt side hilling below me.  I took off down the hill just ahead of where he last saw him.   I came up to a clearing and was about to pull up the binos to look at some deer about 100 yds out and I stepped on a clump of grass that was icy and ate sh$t.  Spooked all the deer including the nice 4pt.  :bash:

Day 7 1/3, 11:30 rolled around and I decided I had better call it and head out.  It was a lot of fun and hunting is just that; HUNTING.  It's not killing.
The weather really played a big role.  Going from 7 degrees to 40 degrees in 5 days did not help at all.  We had high hopes for the year after the first day and were a bit bummed we didn't get the quality animals.
Oh wait I forgot the part of when we were heading off the hill, we got to the last couple switch backs and I spotted a 3 pt out in the burn with a ton of other deer, mostly does.  I figured, what the heck, I'll go for some meat.  Tastes better than tag soup.  I ended up with a 40 yard shot and I drilled him!!  Not the big one we wanted but it is my first Muley buck with a bow, so I'm good with it.

Not sure how the other two tags ended up.

Let's hope my brother draws next year and I get to do it again!

Right on! Sounds like you made the most of a great opportunity and had a blast doing it. Hunting is hunting and you ended up harvesting a nice buck and put meat in the freezer. Glad you had a good time and had the right attitude all along.
