Sounds like one hell of a trip.

I use a solar charger for some electronics out in the field when I'm going for days without power. The one I have is:

It's pretty good for recharging GoPro's and even bumping a charge on a cell but not so good for larger electronics like Laptops.  Something like this works a slow trickle charge into your electronics and I've found is best to leave sitting on a pack or sun exposed location for a few hours at a time to really see the benefits.  I tend to pack the charger with me if I'm on an extended day hike since the weight is negligible.  I would say the 4 star rating on REI is about right... not great - but pretty good with a few flaws.

Sounds fun!  Check out some of those disposable battery chargers.  They work well and would be cheaper for that duration of a trip.

Check out the 2600mAh Portable USB External Mobile Battery Charger Power Bank.  They can be bought for less than $10 each.  I used them in Alaska this fall.  Each power bank gives you about 2.5 charges on my iPhone.  Cheap and they work well.

Much cheaper than a solar charger.

Good Luck Fred!!!!  Departure time is getting close!  Don't forget the camera and fish pole.  A mini tripod for self-portraits makes things nice while solo, too.  Gorilla Pod for Wal-Mart is a great little one.
