Must of been using a vehicle to pull with while he watched and wasent far enough away.

Doubt the kid could pull that hard?  Sad and a hard lesson learned.

To me it sounds like he was probably using a winch with a rope on the end of the winch. Well the rope broke which flung the winch cable back up to him and hit him.

Sad story   He could have been using a portable rope winch that could have cut loose.  remember if you are using a winch to tie a blanket or coat or something on the line so if it does snap the blanket will act as a dampener and prevent the wild kick back of the cable.  prayers to the family that he will come through this, what a young age to suffer such a tragedy.  be careful out there in the woods.

I do not like to hear anyone getting hurt especially young people. I feel for the family and hope that something good will turn out for the young boy.
One thing that I have not heard is what was this boy doing dragging out a elk for? there was no season open for elk in this unit when this accident happened.  :dunno:
If its brown knock it down
