Lost Hunter
« on: November 01, 2008, 01:54:59 PM »
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Montana are searching for a 73-year-old missing hunter.

Dale Tibbitts of Roy, Wash., was last seen about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Rosebud County Sheriff Randy Allie says Tibbitts and another hunter were in rough country in the Long Fork Creek area, about 30 miles northwest of Forsyth, when they decided to take a nap.

Allies says that when his partner woke, Tibbitts was gone.

Tibbitts is riding a camouflaged Polaris Sportsman 500 four-wheeler. He was wearing camouflage pants, a blue hat and blue coat.

Rosebud County Search and Rescue started looking for Tibbitts about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

The effort continued Saturday with searchers on horse and four-wheelers. A helicopter from U.S. Customers and Border Protection was assisting, along with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks personnel
