Anyone have info on the area 30 late bull hunt in Idaho?
« on: October 24, 2013, 06:17:51 PM »
A friends friend, drew the tag. It starts nov 1-30th 7 or 8 nonres tags, he didn't know his buddy put him in for it and knows nothing about the hunt or what to expect. I'm just trying to get him an idea of to expect, it's east of challis and salmon. Thanks for any advise, feel free to pm if you want to keep the info on the low down.

Well Trophy as i am sure you know there are lots of people that come on to this site asking the same type of questions. I would recommend arriving 5-7 days prior to the hunt and do some scouting of the area. Or it will be a in season scouting trip. I have hunted north central Idaho before and you just have to beat feet cover ground and find the elk. Good luck if I knew more about the unit I'd give you a hand.

I completely understand what your saying, if it were my tag I wouldn't be asking, I'd be scouting. I was just trying to help a friend who doesn't do the hunt forum stuff, I am interested in the tag though. Seems unit 18 is going down hill a bit, it will be interesting to see how he does.

Tell him to pick up the map and get away from the roads.

Supposed to be one of the better hunts in ID. I've spent a lot of time there April-June... lots of elk overwintering at the lower elevations in that unit.
