At first I didn't get any pics during the day but once I started backtracking trails from feeding (generally clear cuts) to bedding I have gotten a lot more pics of bucks during shooting hours. Mostly in either bigger timber or 15-20 y.o reprod. I get most of the daytime pics in the reprod it's just tough to find a spot to hang a tree stand and I don't like hunting out of ground blinds.
The video I have of the buck in the last pic you can tell it was blowing really hard, the deer seem to come out of the timber and go into the little pockets in the reprod during those rainy/windy days. The pic of the big 5x5 was taken about 250 yards from the bottom side of a heavily hunted clear cut. I moved my camera setup down the ridge another 300 yards and found rubs and some well established trails in the older timber. I'm guessing I will have a better shot at pics/killing him in the day time further from the cut.
We'll see. I've only bow hunted BT's and haven't killed anything decent yet. Missed a very respectable 3X3 with eyeguards two years ago on a stand that was set up on the edge of the reprod and timber. I'm getting more and better pics of bigger bucks so maybe, just maybe I might be figuring it out. Luck is always good too.
