Cleaned my Duck Gun today.............
« on: March 16, 2014, 10:36:02 PM »
I always spray it down heavily with a good spray oil after every hunt but it's been leaning up in my reloading room staring at me till today. Too darn wet out to do much so it was a good day to completey take my SBEII apart. She's clean as a whistle now and ready for another season.
Anyone else guilty of letting your gun cleaning drag?

Oh yeah. My extreama rairly gets attention. Little spray here and there. Deep clean before the season.......usually day before. But I think she likes it dirty. Doesn't let me down.

I have been in the past yes. I have learned now shooting a semi that a good cleaning can go a long way in the blind. Especially if you get a peice of debris in it and costs you a bird. Speaking from experience. When I shot a pump, I let her slide a bit more than now.

My SBEII was cleaned just about daily after every hunt.  Only because it is simple to do.  I did the deep cleaning where I do a full disassembly of the gun the week after the season.  Pulled trigger, stock off, bolt and had a ton of pieces and went through the whole gun.  Ready for next season.  I won't shoot this one again until hunting season as I have another SBEII that I will shoot with during the off season.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

i had my 870 cerakoted a year ago just for that reason.  it's my dedicated salt gun now...apart from the occasional cleaning(i think i only put 2 or 3 boxes of shells through it last year). it's pretty much maintenance free.

still have to sit down and tear my sp-10 apart, though.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Cleaning?  Whatever!  Shoot a pump, hose it with WD and power through those rusty 3.5 inchers! Besides, no need for quick backup, one shot kills. Shoot em in the face Sako!

Guilty!     :hello:
but, I just shoot an 870, so....    I can get away with a bit more gunk in the chamber than some of you guys who shoot gas guns.
But like you, If it aint rusty, it's fine where it's at.   lol
