You think this only happens in Washington?

Mongo,

I live on Whidbey and am treated to an air-show nearly every day. They call it 'the sound of freedom' but I know the true sound of freedom is the droning of gunfire I can hear coming from Green's Gun Range just down the road. I know those dudes annoy you, I get frustrated being in an area there are irresponsible shooters too. But get used to it, it's only gonna get worse!

No I'm not an idiot but there are other states and areas that have more of a "hunting culture" and that brings more respect to other hunters. this is not my first time in the woods or hunting. and this is not the first time this has happened, I wouldn't have blown my top over this being the first time. I would have written it off as S happens.

:yeah:

Deer don't get spooked by gunshots as easily as people think.....I shot at a buck on sat and on my way down to look there was 3 more bucks with several does standing close by and didn't run till I got close
We have deer walking around our gun range all the time.

Public land is for everyone.
I'm sure nature photographers are upset at seeing your orange vest in the trees, how rude of you to ruin the landscape.

Over here on the eastside of the mtn.  A normal hunting day begins by hiking in to your spot, having other hunters hike in as its getting light people mill around glass, then grow bored and leave, you know its noon when you here a shot followed by 10-20 more reverberating off the hills.  Ah must be lunch time the boys are all playing at the pits.  The deer dont seem to care they only get antsy when every hunter on the hillside has tried getting closer because just maybe one of thoes does is actually a big buck and the other 8 hunters who pushed them around didnt see it :chuckle:

I would have just hunkered down and watched, if they did spook the deer there is a good chance if you were in a nice hidey hole that is where they would go.  Learning to use the other hunters is something I am working on and I got way closer to filling a tag this year and I spent a ton of time in the middle of lots of deer.

what I hate is our short season and my schedule never letting me hunt the only 7-9 days of deer we have.

From just this weekend, although they were running around the archery range, there were tons of shots going off and being heard from the rifle range:

Less worried about the deer, more worried about me catching a bullet in the butt from people just blasting away. Hunters orange only works so good.
:yeah:  the noise doesn't bother me or the idea of people shooting--it is usually the not knowing 'who' is shooting.  About half the time I see random people out shooting it makes me want to be far, far away.  That bad half is usually doing something like hanging a zombie target off a low tree limb with no back stop and firing as fast as possible from the hip with an AR or AK.

:yeah:  Well said.  I was at Renton Range and shooting my rifle. One day around 2001 I was shooting after few rounds and above me the light came on it mean STOP and step back on white line and stand step back look at three pointer walking thur all target post at 100 yards from chair to target.    :yike:  How can he be deaf...   :chuckle:  I would have shot him EASY.

Another story recently.. I was helping my friend on his back yard which is 300 yards from King County police shooting range He lost three pet ducks to some of predators and two days later I offered him to hunt them down and I bagged a Bobcat with in 30 min calling her in.   ;)  it doesnt mean Washington is a bad place to hunt.  Just need to spend some of hunt and get luck.

I wear collared shirts, have been known to listen to 50 cent and live in Liberty Lake (yuppie part of Spokane).  Am I allowed to go in the woods and hunt this year?   Please let me know, late archery is fast approaching and need to know if I should stop scouting.

You know what forget I said anything, I did realize my keyboard typed with an accent. I said I didn't care about the deer I care about getting shot by a bunch of people who play too much Call of Duty and think they are Ghost! And YES I was way off the road and YES they have the right to do it but I guess I'm the Jerk for thinking people should be more courteous to others, MY BAD. I bet if this was Late Elk Archery more people would care, I guess I shouldn't care anymore about who's in the woods running around.

Mongo hunter,  I know how you feel,  it just remember that we have 7 million people in Washington and it getting worse and worse.  Over in MT only have 1.1 million people. So you gotta to try and enjoy what you can and I admit myself I got pissed when Hound hunting got banned last March 2011 and I threw my fit and later I had to change it and I have to accept it and move on.  I know how you feel.  I could just pack and move over to MT and hunt there all my life there. But my daugther is here because my ex wife REFUSED let me take my daugther and move there. So I must stay here and support my child until she graduate then I am moving.
Nothing will never make everyone life perfect.  Gotta try to find your happy somewhere.  Be positive.
