Filled My late buck Tag
« on: November 03, 2008, 02:33:38 PM »
Filled my Quilemene tag today. Spent Saturday and Sunday scouting for bucks. Didn't find much but fog on Saturday. Sunday started the same way so I headed down to lower elevation to get below the fog. Found one huge buck but one of his horns was broke off about 3 inches above his head.  :bash: Then I got a flat tire headin back up the hill so I headed down to town to get it fixed. Got back up the hill just after the fog lifted and found a nice 4X4 and a 5X5 that I planned to go after this morning. Monday morning I couldn't find the shells to my gun in the dark.  :o Glad I brought the sons rifle as a back up. I was just getting ready to drop into the canyon when I saw two deer skylined up the top of the ridge maybe a 1/2 mile away. He looked bigger then the two in the canyon so I headed out. I couldn't see them because of the curve of the hill and thought I had spooked them since I was almost to the top. Then I see horns only so I take off my pack to sneak a little closer but the doe stands up and I'm pinned down. After about 5 minutes of looking at me she starts feeding and then the buck stands up. One shot and he ran just past me down the hill and fell over. Range finder says it was a 35 yard shot. Can't beleave I didn't spook them. It's my best Mulie. He's 5X6 about 22 inches wide.

It is good to see someone taking a nice buck and not long-arming him to make him look like something he isn't.  Great Buck!

Dandy buck, congrats!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Nice dark antlered buck you got there Wannahunt, I think you got the spread about right, I would have put him in that range from the field pic. He does look to have outstanding mains for a Washington buck though, very nice!!! Congrats  Way to take advantage of that tag.
