Venison Tacos

Servings: 4-6 (makes 12 tacos)

Ingredients:

1 pound ground venison or chopped venison steaks

2/3 cup water

12 taco shells or flour tortillas, warmed

Your favorite toppings, such as shredded lettuce, shredded cheese and chopped tomatoes

Seasoning (or use a packet of your favorite taco seasoning):

1 tablespoon chili powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

Brown meat in large skillet on medium-high heat. Drain grease.

In a small bowl, mix together chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper, or use a package of already prepared taco seasoning.

Stir in seasoning and water.

Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Spoon meat mixture into taco shells or tortillas. Serve with assorted toppings.

ya know? :bash:
hate it when I do that.
made these last night and was thinking I was missing something.
kids ate it though, which was the mission, and accomplished!
they won't eat cilantro so didn't think to put it in.
ANY of my recipes are just for guidance only. I vary ingredients A LOT.
Thanks for the reminder/suggestion!

Each year I usually grind some deer or elk with zero fat added specifically for making tacos and meatloaf. Deer tacos are the best  :EAT:

I would NEVER use the commercial seasoning on MY DEER.
This tasted great.
The meat I used was just some general grind type...I found out my grinder is not working properly making this...cutting knife is gone somewhere.......so the meat wasn't ground well.
I used just enough bacon grease to put a THIN layer on the entire bottom of the pan, then scoop out any fatty liquid after the meat is done.

I couldn't get past it I'm afraid.  I can get down with enchiladas though.
