Late Season Whitetail Hunt in Chewuch
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:09:46 AM »
I'm new to the board and wanted to introduce myself.  I have lived on the westside of the state all of my life (please don't judge) but have spent a lot of time on the eastside as both my parents were from Walla Walla and all of my extended family lives in Eastern WA.  I'm married and have a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son.  So I don't get out as much as I would like.  I recently became interested in hunting when last year my Grandfather had a stroke and passed his Winchester 270 on to me.  I've always had an appreciation for the outdoors and the skill required to live off the land.  I've had some great times listening to my Grandfathers hunting stories and hope to create some of my own to pass down to my family.

I was fortunate this year to draw a late season whitetail tag and am really excited to get up and take my first buck (even if its no monster).  I would appreciate and whitetail advice as I've only hunted in the past for mule deer (albeit no success).  I'm not looking for anybody's honeyholes or special spots.  Just general advice or a jumping off spot.  I'm heading up in a week and hope to post a picture of a buck when I return.  Thanks for any guidance and I look forward to contributing to the board going forward.

Good luck, that's a tough area for white tails. I've hunted in that area for 30 years and wouldn't waste my time on that tag. Welcome to the site by the way.

Hunt the river bottoms, only places I've ever personally seen WT in that unit.  Few and far between, that's for sure.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Welcome to the site and congrats on the tag there are nice whitetails in the area depends on how you hunt if you stay in your truck you might as well save your gas money. If you think there might be deer there go check it out a lot of people like the ideea of deer camp very few have the motivation to put in the effort  afterall its not tv.put boot to dirt check out everything you'll do fine and bring home meat good luck.

Thanks guys!  I'm definetly not a sit in the truck type of hunter.  I like to get out and hike around quite a bit.  I'll spend my time in those river bottoms and hopefully fill that freezer!  Thanks
