What is your favorite ar-15 buttstock?
« on: November 11, 2013, 06:11:49 AM »
I am finishing up an ar15 build and I am trying to decide on a buttstock.

I have a magpul prs that I have been happy with.  I like both fixed and collapsible but tend to lean toward collapsible.

What do you folks like for stocks?

PRS or UBR depending if you want fixed or collapsible. As solid as they come. I also run a lot of the ACE skeleton stocks.

Collapsible, and I have a Magpul CTR on one and a Command Arms CBSACP on another. never was a fan of the fixed stocks on AR's.

i'm running an A2, but with my kids getting a little older, i'll probably be looking for a collapsible.  i remember having trouble with that rifle when i was a kid, but loved to shoot it.

Got a little of everything.  I really like the Pardus telescoping stock on my 20 LBC.  Put an Operator RRA stock (collapsible) on my latest build.  Not sure if I like it yet.  Seems kind of bulky....
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I just received a Tactical Intent TI-7 buttstock from Redbarnarmory.com. Customer service is awesome and prices are good. I haven't used the stock but it looks good, feels solid and came highly recommended.

I like the collapsible for having different length of pull for different seasons, sitting vs standing.  And it's what I carried in the military, so I'm used to it and it comfortable to me.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I have having a real hard time making a decision.

I am leaning towards fixed as I want this to be more of a bench style rilfe than a CQ style.  It is for a long heavy barrel Grendal build I am working on.

I am kinda liking the Mako Sniper Adjustable Buttstock - but I think I like the monopod concept and that is swaying me.

I really like the feel of the ace stocks but for comfort a sopmod or magpul str is hard to beat for collapsible stocks

The CTR for the light, fast, short stuff and the UBR for the rest.

Well,  I went with the Mako sniper.  I am pretty happy with it.  I am surprised just how stable the monopod is.

here are some photos of the WIP build.  Still have to attach the barrel and get a couple more parts in.  Then there is the Optics decision....

Good timing on this thread, I was about to post the same question.

Adjustable stock for me, on a 16" AR set up for mid-longer range accuracy. I want a collapsible stock that doesn't rattle, but don't want to add the extra 1+ lb for the Magpul UBR stock.

If I don't care about storage, is there any advantage to the ACS vs the CTR stock? Does the ACS lock up tighter? I've handled the CTR, but not the ACS.

I'm leaning towards the ACS-L at the moment.
