The perfect temperature for maceration?
« on: November 13, 2013, 08:32:05 PM »
Think there has been some informative posts on similar topics here before.  If you could control your temperatures to an exact degree what should it be?  Too cold, no bacteria.  Too hot, you'll kill bacteria.  What is ideal?

I think they say right around 110.  I use a fishtank heater and mine usually sits around 90 to 95. Seems to work ok. Little too cold for quick degreasing though.

Degreasing temps are 110 degrees.  Now for Maceration I like between 80 and 90 degrees.

Thanks guys.  I have been doing some experimenting and am just wondering if there is an EXACT temperature that is best for Bacteria growth.  A while ago I did Three Elk and two deer in a large tank.  Excluding degreasing they were done from start to finish in only five days.  I wasn't watching temps though.

5 days is good.  Not going to get much faster.

Yeah I've never done anything in 5 days that's pretty amazing. I just did a deer and a bear and they took a week and a half which is a little longer than normal.
